MOCA Book Club Selection: Say Hello to My Little Friend by Jennine Capó Crucet

Equal parts Scarface and Moby Dick, this hilarious and surreal Miami fever dream follows Izzy—a failed Pitbull impersonator—on an absurd quest for power that leads him from Tony Montana aspirations to a captive orca at the Miami Seaquarium.

Inspired by our South Florida Cultural Consortium exhibition, Capó Crucet delivers a bold, sharp, and heartbreaking love letter to the Magic City that tackles identity, memory, and local myth-making. Dynamic and unapologetically South Florida, it's tailor-made for rich community conversation.
