Ready, set, create! miniMakers are your opportunity to dive into different art mediums once a month at MOCA. Workshops are for families with children ages 6-12, designed around artists, art history, and current MOCA Exhibitions.
Inspired by artist Joan "ENTES" Jiménez and his large metal cut-out sculptures, families will create their own figure-based artworks that celebrate movement, community, and everyday moments. Using sturdy paper, cardboard, and collage materials, participants will design cut-out figures shown dancing, talking, gathering, or sharing meals- capturing small but meaningful scenes from their own lives and neighborhoods. Artists will experiment with silhouette, pose, and gesture to show how bodies communicate stories without words. This activity invites families to think about public space, connection, and how ordinary moments can become powerful expressions of identity, joy, and resilience.

We ask that participants register all children as well as adults in their group, it helps our staff know how many seats to prepare, thank you!
This free program is made possible by the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (NMCRA). We are also grateful to the Books & Books Literary Foundation for providing our participating families free picture books.
