Ready, set, create! miniMakers are your opportunity to dive into different art mediums once a month at MOCA. Workshops are for families with children ages 6-12, designed around artists, art history, and current MOCA Exhibitions.
Inspired by exhibiting artist Hiba Schahbaz, families will imagine themselves transforming into powerful animals or magical creatures. Participants will create imaginative self-portraits that blend human features with elements of centaurs, mermaids, dragons, or creatures of their own invention. Using drawing, collage, and watercolor techniques, artists will explore themes of identity, transformation, and self-expression while building layered, expressive artworks. This activity encourages creativity and personal storytelling, inviting children to see themselves as strong, imaginative, and magical beings.

We ask that participants register all children as well as adults in their group, it helps our staff know how many seats to prepare, thank you!
This free program is made possible by the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (NMCRA). We are also grateful to the Books & Books Literary Foundation for providing our participating families free picture books.
