MOCA Makers: Collagraphy

Members Sign in for your Membership Discount!

Collagraphy is a printmaking process that involves creating a layered and textured printing plate using materials such as fabric, paper, cardboard, and more.

In this MOCA Makers, we draw from the work of Belkis Ayón who produced her distinctive artworks through this technique.  Ayón's subject matter often referenced Afro-Cuban religious themes and mythology, particularly the Abakuá society—a secretive, all-male Afro-Cuban religious brotherhood. Join us for this skill-building collagraphy workshop inspired by the dynamic and impactful work of Belkis Ayón, on view in our current exhibition Juan Francisco Elso: Por America.

Open to learners of all levels.

Tickets include admission to the museum, supplies, and access to this hands-on experience
