MOCA Makers Legacy Series: Archives as Practice
This season, MOCA Makers welcomes participants to delve into how memory, material, and meaning endure through artistic expression. Archives as Practice reimagines MOCA’s well-loved monthly workshops as a focused series exploring archival methods—examining how stories are preserved and conveyed through food, nature, the body, and community.

Timed with MOCA’s 30th anniversary, the series reflects on the museum’s own evolving archive and its impact on North Miami’s cultural landscape. Each month, artist-led sessions guide participants through creative processes inspired by MOCA’s exhibitions and teaching collection, offering new ways to record and reimagine personal and collective histories.

The second workshop in the ongoing Archive series features a Millinery Workshop taught by local artist Ọmọlará Williams McCallister. Participants will create their own hats to adorn themselves with while we explore the subject of adornment, decoration, and fashion as archive. This series is curated in collaboration with Black Miami Dade.
