This event is no longer on sale.

Friday September 23

8:00 PM  –  9:00 PM

On September 23, guests are invited to an intimate performance by current Art on The Plaza featured artist, Autumn Casey, and her father Clint Casey. Guests will participate in a call and response activity in dialogue with her installation, “Clint and April.” Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to settle in and enjoy.

Autumn Casey’s “Clint and April”, part of MOCA’s Art on the Plaza series, is on view through Oct. 7. The sculptural installation featuring two swans, each secured on their respective plinths. The sculptures are illuminated from within via solar-powered lights. Existing as a pair to echo the natural practice of swans who mate for life, “Clint and April” creates a tender space for the contemplation of beauty, love, ideas of worship and familial bonds.

Autumn Casey (b. 1987, West Palm Beach, FL) currently lives and works in Miami, FL. Her practice, which moves from sculpture to collage, as well as video and performance, considers the history of the found objects and assemblage – redeploying existing materials or moments in unexpected, idiosyncratic ways. Her work is collected by the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, the Pérez Art Museum Miami and in private collections in Miami and New York City.

Clint Casey (b. 1959, West Palm Beach, FL) is a South Floridian native and is a true “Florida man” at heart. A self-taught musician, he has been playing the guitar religiously at home and in local bars since the age of 13, and even journeyed to Los Angeles, CA to audition for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. For this performance with Autumn, he will be accompanying her with the “batar,” a home-made instrument that is part bass, part guitar.
